Summary

After Alex Garcia convinced his girlfriend, Michelle Hoover, to commit a murder, he thought he was in the clear after the authorities got an innocent man to confess to the crime. The problem, was that Alex was about to be arrested for a different murder where the truth would finally come out.

0:00.0	If you haven't watched or listened to the episode I posted a few days ago about the mass shooting at the Waprom-Kanarm Temple in Waddell, Arizona, you should go back and check it out. There's a link in the description.
0:12.7	It was about the shooting murder of nine members of a Buddhist temple, and it was carried out by two teenagers named Jonathan Dutty and Alessandro Garcia, who went by Alex.
0:23.6	For the first few months after the murders, investigators were led to believe that four
0:28.6	other suspects had carried out the crime and had coerced all four of them into confessing,
0:33.7	even though they were innocent. Eventually, despite their persistence to pin the crime on the Tucson 4,
0:41.0	they connected the murder weapon to Jonathan and Alex, and after being interrogated,
0:45.6	Alex confessed and took a plea deal to testify against Jonathan.
0:50.3	Now, on the surface, the plea deal would exchange his testimony for removing the death penalty
0:55.9	as an option for sentencing. But plea deals come with a ton of fine print. There are a lot of
1:02.0	conditions to the deal, but they're generally a bunch of minutia that isn't really interesting
1:07.3	in the grand scheme of things. One condition that's regularly added to the legal
1:12.3	mumbo-jumbo is that the recipient of the deal has to confess to any other crimes they had committed
1:17.8	outside of the ones they were already charged with. If they don't, and evidence pops up somewhere
1:23.4	that proves they were involved in a different crime, the terms of their deal can be voided.
1:29.1	With that in mind, Alex chose to err on the side of caution and admit to another crime.
1:34.9	Just eight days before he was arrested for the temple shooting, he had been the second person
1:40.0	involved in another senseless murder.

2:19.1	and had never been in trouble. She started attending Agua Freeha High School in August of 1991,
