0:49.0	This is really special for everyone at Apple because today's event is about education.
0:56.0	Education is deep in our DNA and it has been from the very beginning.
1:02.0	Our entire education business is based on a unique understanding of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
1:11.0	We try to bring the same passion and energy that we put into every product we make and every innovative new technology into our education business as well.
1:21.0	We're so proud to take part in anything we can do to help students learn and achieve great things.
1:28.0	Well, there's something really profound starting to happen.
1:32.0	It's remarkable.
1:34.0	We're seeing that students are starting to be introduced to iPad in learning.
1:41.0	It's some really remarkable things are happening and we're in the cusp of something really great.
1:47.0	Whether they're in high school and they're using the iPad to study up for a biology or chemistry test or maybe they're a K-6 student with special needs and they're just trying to communicate with the world.
2:04.0	We hear countless stories from parents and teachers but how with iPad they're able to communicate with and even teach special needs children and it's really heartwarming.
2:16.0	So we're starting to see a lot of really great successes but there are challenges in education both old and new and they're pretty profound.
2:27.0	The truth is if you're a high school student in the U.S. it's not so easy.
2:34.0	Not only the social pressures but the statistics are that if you enter a freshman four years from now you have about a 70% chance of graduating in four years.
2:47.0	In heart-hit urban areas that's as low as 60%. It's really tough and those numbers are not great.
2:57.0	And if you are one of the ones that are lucky enough to work hard and graduate you may not be the best prepared to compete in a global economic environment.
3:07.0	In the core curriculum of reading math and science we see that the U.S. is not at the top of industrialized nations.
