We need God's help if we are to understand His word.

Father, as we dig into Romans again,

we want you to show us this powerful truth about your gospel and how we can be confident in it

and we can actually be proud of it because it is your love expressed for mankind.

Lord, show us today how to do so. In Jesus

name, Amen. Okay in Romans chapter one we have been following along as

the apostle Paul is writing to a group of Christians, a group of believers in Jesus

who live in the city of Rome back in the first century. And he says here in verse 16,

for I am not ashamed of the gospel.

For it, the gospel, is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith.

As it is written, the righteous shall live by faith.
