Nearly three years ago to the date I sat around a campfire with Doug Turnbull and three good friends from Texas in Utah in Africa and talked about hunting Cape Buffalo and a charge that

R. P. H. and Doug Turnbull stopped at just four paces.

Well, we're back. I'm back in Africa with good friends with the same outfitter. This is Kowas

hunting safaris in Namibia. And man, we got an all-star lineup again here of good guys. There's Austin Brown who was with me in

Kodiak for our sicker blacktail hunt last fall. We got Rob Gearing, you've all heard of on the podcast here before, owner and

leader, intrepid leader of Spartan precision equipment out of the UK and maker of the best lightweight mountain hunting bipods and tripods in the industry

and my longtime friend Adam Weatherby is here and believe or not, it's Adam's first time hunting Africa.

He's been here several times on various other journeys,

but this is his first time, and I'm delighted that he's come to hunt Africa for the first time with me.

Also Austin's first time, Rob has been in Namibia, not Namibia, but Tijuana and South Africa and shot some species before.

And man just delighted to welcome you to the show today.

We have some cool hunting stories, some interesting perspective of being here for the first time and some cool

gear that we're using. Gentlemen, thanks for joining me.

Just for the gear heads among us, let's rock and roll quickly through what equipment we're

using and if applicable, why we chose it. And then we're going to talk a little bit about the species we're focusing on now and what's to come

Adam let's start with you what are you shooting and why you bet well I kind of went to traditional route. As you know, I use a lot of kind of our new stuff a lot. You know, our backcountry rifles that we've talked about on the podcast, carbon fiber and all that. But with my grandfather and the game that he took here in Africa,

especially in the 50s and 60s,

and it was really the kind of the groundbreaking area

for his cartridge development, all those different things.

And then of course back then, very traditional woodstocks, you know, real custom traditional

Africa, but Weather B-esque, you know, type of things.
