Stone's timing was fortuitous because it came less than two months before Bezos is set to step

down as CEO of the company he's led since its founding 27 years ago.

And then the next day, the Bezos owned Washington Post named its next executive editor.

And then this morning, Amazon announced that it plans to hire 75,000 more warehouse workers

In short, this is a time of transition for one of America's most ubiquitous companies
