Hi, I'm Dan Pramak, and welcome to a special pop-up episode of Axios Recap.

0:07.7

Today is Wednesday, December 9th, and earlier this afternoon, the Federal Trade Commission

0:12.8

and 48 state attorneys general sued Facebook for antitrust violations, arguing that the company

0:19.4

illegally hurt competition by buying small rivals

0:22.5

and engaging in other harmful behaviors. Moreover, the lawsuit asks that Facebook spin off

0:28.6

both Instagram and WhatsApp, basically asking the company to unwind its two most significant

1:25.5

language. In addition to that, the New York state AG,

1:30.3

Letitia James, said that she wants to make sure that other tech companies know not to act like

1:35.4

Facebook or the law will be coming down on them. So this is some pretty aggressive moves from

1:40.4

antitrust regulators today. Scott, you covered the old Microsoft trial in the past.

1:45.0

Obviously, Google just got hit with antitrust from the feds recently,

1:48.0

although not asked to divest anything.

1:50.0

From your gut take, from seeing what you've seen so far,
