Hey everybody, welcome back to the podcast, and we're here talking with my friend Kim again

0:14.1

about writing things.

0:16.7

And so what are we talking about today in the process?

0:19.4

This has been so much fun for me to put you in the

0:21.7

hot seat and pick your brain about what it looks like to be in the middle of launching a book.

0:26.1

Your new book, Catching Wimsy comes out pretty soon. And so it's fun for me to think about and to

0:30.6

hear you kind of weigh in on what it looks like, the beginning, the middle, the launch.

0:34.6

And today we're going to really center in on that. What does it look like

0:38.4

to launch a book? We have lots of friends who are in the middle of this process or just finishing

or just considering this process. And it used to be that when you would write a book, you would

0:55.1

well wishes and say, see ya, can't wait for you to write another one. And now a lot of the launch

1:00.9

process really rests on the shoulders of an author. And so since you were right in the middle

1:06.7

of this, I'd love to just hear a little bit from you. I know listeners would as well. How do you

1:11.8

approach knowing when to start talking publicly about a book? Because we said in a previous episode,

1:19.2

you know, this book has been hanging around in your head for a long time. By the time it

1:22.9

actually has a cover and a barcode, you're almost over it. So how do you know when to start yapping

1:28.7

about it to other people? Yeah, think about that for all of you listening. There has been something

1:34.0

you're thinking about. But you want to bring it contemporary enough that it is closer to real time,

1:41.0

like for me to write a book about how I was in the middle of choosing colleges

1:45.6

to go to.
