So, Alex, last week, you said something to the effect of right now competition is the engine of our sport.

And you meant that it's powering the progression and the growth of climbing.

And I'm curious, like, in this next chapter, kids that grew up training, climbing, competing,

do you think that, one, right now, they're like the sort of the people that are leading the wave? And then in the future, do you think that they're

going to lead the wave?

I think that those kids are definitely the future of the sport, as it were. I mean, I think

that in the last generation of climbers,

there were a few notable climbers that made a real impact on the sport

who didn't come from gyms or competition climbing.

But that's largely because it just didn't totally exist at the time.

And frankly, standards were a lot lower.

But now the standard, even for adventure climbing,

like in the big mountains or on

L-Cap or things like that, sort of like big, rad adventures, the physical standard is now so high

for those kinds of adventures that it's just much easier if you've come from a competition

or indoor climbing background. It's hard to reach that standard without training indoors at

some point in your life. Do you think that the next generation of professionals, like people that are making a living,

climbing by doing the most difficult things in the world, whether that's bouldering, whether that's

alpinism? Do you think that it's almost going to be like a necessary on-ramp?

Maybe you don't have to start at two years old, but do you think

that that's just going to be the path in the future? Yeah, I mean, I think we're already seeing that.
