On Wednesday, Donald Trump ordered the Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division

Trump's Department of Justice added it will reconsider December's consent decree with

Louisville Kentucky's police department after a four-year investigation into the shooting

death of Brianna Taylor resulted in a judge demanding major reforms in the Louisville,

Kentucky Police Department. The Trump administration now signaling the Department of Justice's

But Louisville, Kentucky Mayor Craig Greenberg is now saying his city will honor the consent decree,

Mayor Greenberg said, quote, regardless of what happens in federal court,

the Louisville Metro government and the Louisville Metro Police Department will move forward

and honor our commitment to meaningful improvements and

reform. The Minneapolis City Council agreed to a consent decree on January 6th this year,

following a month's long Justice Department investigation into Minneapolis police using the types of excessive force

that resulted in the murder of George Floyd back in 2020.

That consent decree, according to the new Trump Department of Justice, is no longer going to be

enforced, but Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey telling CNN,

quote, it's unfortunate that the Trump administration may not be interested in cooperating with us

to improve policing and support our community. But make no mistake, we have the tools, the resolve, and the community's backing to fulfill our promise to the people of Minneapolis.
