The 2024 Sanya O'Sullivan Cove 10-mile road race was one for the ages.

In her prime, the goat struck fear into the hearts of other runners.

If they were warming up on the training track headed one direction,

she'd run the other to see if they'd chicken out and change lanes.

Well, this past Sunday, she seemed to do the exact same thing with Storm

Kathleen. We were told to expect biblical rain and wind. But Kathleen must have heard that Sonia

and her squad were going to be taking on the hills in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research in

Ballimore Cove Athletic Club, and Kathleen stepped aside,

and the sun split the stones. Today, on Irishman running abroad, I take you inside the race

to gather all the atmosphere and the stories from Sonia's handpicked squad of heroes.

If you've been listening to the podcast since Christmas, you'll have followed

each of their journeys, witnessed their highs and lows, heard their voice notes as they followed

Sonia's training plan. Did the hard work pay off or did the shore breeze blow them away? It's

time to find out. You know, I like to be fit and healthy, so the best way I know is to just get out there

and run.

Running was an outlet for me to, I guess, feel good about myself and take out some of the

angers that were going on in my life.

Sonio Sullivan is going to take the world title back to Ireland.

OG squad members, Mick, Rojo, Ashling and Anya arranged a get together for us to do the most

important thing the night before any race, and that is the presentation of the jersey.

What would a squad be without its own official Irishman running abroad jersey? Sonia was on hand and we got to give them out in front of a packed crowd

at an Airbnb at an undisclosed location in Cove.
