a fairly somber podcast in which we spent quite a bit of time

discussing the injury and the impact of that injury to

DeMar Hamlin, the Buffalo Safety who as we record this 24 hours after the injury to DeMar Hamlin on the field in

Cincinnati. Hamlin is on a ventilator, his uncle has just told NFL network that he's on a ventilator, but he has gone from needing 100% oxygen to 50% oxygen, which obviously is progress. So as we wait for more news, and that news probably will be forthcoming even before you listen to this podcast.

I thought it would be best this week to basically get you up to speed about what exactly happened to DeMar Hamlin on the field in Cincinnati.

And we are going to begin the podcast with my conversation this week with Mike Ryan, the

NBC Sports Medicine analyst.

He's a former head athletic trainer in the NFL and I think you will learn a lot from listening to my 18 minutes with Mike Ryan about what exactly happened and what he thinks is the near term future for

DeMar Hamlin.
