Hello, everyone and welcome to Everything Iconic with me, Danny Pellicrino.

I'm here with Chelsea Hanler, who's got a new book out. I'll have what she's having.

Chelsea, how are you today? I'm well. Thank you. How are you doing?

0:19.9

Good. The book is so good. I was up late laughing and enjoying it. I got to, I'm not quite finished. I do apologize. But I'm about 200 pages in, so I'm at the tail end. And so good. I just love your writing so much. And I just wanted, I hope you don't mind. I'm going to gush for a second because your writing has been so impactful to me. I'm an author myself. And I remember so vividly when I lived in Chicago about 15 years ago picking up your book and there was a guy named Joel Derfner. And this book kind of came about because of that relationship, because I was in this public romance. And everyone was so excited and happy for me. And I, and it was so sweet, the public's

reaction to the relationship. And it was very public facing. And so an editor approached me and was

1:37.5

like, we would love for you to write a book about falling in love. Like, you know, if you can fall in

1:42.2

love, you know, then anyone can. And we want to hear about it.

1:46.8

And I was all for it. I thought, wow, yeah, what an unexpected kind of treat for me to be the person

singing from rooftops about this love affair and this great new relationship. I thought for sure,

you know, we were going to end up

together, all of those things. And so I took the book on under that umbrella and then we broke up

2:10.4

and then I thought, well, what am I going to write about now? And I had done this really meaningful episode with Glennon

not to repeat past behaviors and old patterns and kind of nastiness.

2:36.4

And then we thought, okay, maybe the book should be about that breakup. And then I thought,

2:40.5

I'm not devoting an entire book to one breakup. I've had many breakups and I'll probably
