Hello and welcome to the Safy Bridge on Sunday podcast. As world leaders gathered for the G20 this week, the news has been dominated by promises of trade deals and speculation that Brexit could be watered down.

Closer to home, austerities under attack with calls for an end to the public sector pay cap.

Needless to say, it was another busy Sophie Ridge on Sunday.

This week I was joined by Justice Secretary David Liddington, Shadow Work and Pension Secretary

Debbie Abrahams, and the president of the CBI Paul Drexler. And for this week's Ridge

on the Road, I went to a school in Hackney where teachers are worried about funding cuts and pay camps.

Now, the new Justice Secretary David Liddington was probably hoping to talk about, well, justice on the show today.

But with headlines yet again dominated by rumoured plots to outs Theresa May, we couldn't ignore the elephant in the room. So I started off by asking

him whether there was any truth in the plots. I think there's always in July, a lot of gossip,

you know, hot weather, people going to rather too many summer parties for their own good,

and you get this sort of silly story. What I see with the Prime Minister, my cabinet colleagues,

is a government that's knuckling down to work that's saying, look, the public have given us

the election result. We have to live with that, make adjustments to that. But there's some big

problems out there, the impact of digital technology on our economy, how we fund and reform
