After divisions in the Labour Party emerged once again, I spoke to the former leadership

contender Owen Smith. I was also joined by the Government Minister George Eustace and Lib Dem leadership

candidate Syvince Cable. And I chatted to residents and the local MP David Lammy on the

Broadwater Farmer State in Tottenham. Now, as soon as Tim Farron resigned as Libdom leader after the election, saying he found it

impossible to lead a modern Liberal party while being a Christian, speculation began to

mount about who his successor would be.

Joe Swinson quickly ruled herself out.

Sir Addae then did the same.

That means there is currently only one candidate for the job, the former business secretary

Savince Cable, a man who hasn't always hidden his views when he's disagreed with former leaders.

So what will he do if he wins the top job himself? Well I asked him

if it's time for a rethink on austerity.

Well, there certainly is a time to change the emphasis of policy. But I mean, I just

can't understand this argument says you either have austerity or non-austerity. I mean, the world

isn't like that. You have more or less of something. I think what there is a big

public mood for, and I think he's right, is that we shift the balance instead of just

cutting, cutting public spending, we have people willing to pay more tax. And indeed,
