0:13.2	Today we continue with Moses and his grand finale before the Israelites cross the Jordan
0:17.4	River and take the Promised Land to live in it.
0:20.5	Moses has been giving laws for how things will shift once they're no longer camping in
0:24.5	the desert.
0:25.5	Today he starts out with some laws about worship.
0:28.0	He reminds them that they're entering into foreign territory where pagan gods are revered.
0:33.0	If anyone does worship those other gods, there will be a trial involving at least two
0:37.6	witnesses before the death penalty is given.
0:41.1	And the witnesses are the ones who have to carry out that justice.
0:44.4	So if they're lying, then they'd be guilty of murder.
0:47.6	And because these situations can be complex and challenging sometimes, God sets up a court
0:52.5	of appeals made up of judges and priests to handle the more difficult matters.
0:57.5	Moses predicts that there will be a day after they settle in the land when they'll look
1:01.7	around and be like, hey, all these other nations have kings.
1:05.4	We should get one of those.
1:07.1	When the time comes, God will choose an Israelite for them to set up as a king over them,
1:12.2	but it's important for their kings not to be drawn to wealth, power, or women.
1:16.9	If you know much about any Israelite kings, you already know this isn't going to end well.
1:22.0	The prohibition against these things was supposed to keep them humble and trusting in
1:25.7	God for their provision and protection, instead of in what they could acquire for themselves.
1:30.8	Wealth can lead a person's heart astray.
