0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for the Bible recap.
0:13.2	Yesterday the Israelites won a lot of wars and took a lot of land, so today we open with
0:17.9	the summary of what land they've acquired, with lots of boundaries that are probably
0:22.0	unfamiliar to you and that seem unimportant.
0:25.2	Rest assured that these boundaries were very important to the people at the time, and
0:29.0	not only that, but these lists have also served our faith historically and archeologically.
0:35.3	So hang in there when we're in these dry patches, know that they serve a purpose greater than
0:39.4	you.
0:40.8	We started out with the land they conquered when Moses was still alive, all the stuff
0:44.6	east of the Jordan River where the 2.5 trans-Jordan tribes live, Gad, Ruben, and East
0:50.2	Manassah.
0:51.2	Then we cross the Jordan River heading west into the Promised Land and read about the
0:55.3	areas conquered by Joshua.
0:57.8	After all this conquering, Joshua is pretty old, but God says he's not done with him,
1:02.0	there's still more land to take, so he's not allowed to die yet.
1:05.3	But God will do the heavy lifting for them and drive out the inhabitants himself.
1:09.9	Then Joshua will give the land to the remaining 9.5 tribes, and the Levites, of course, have
1:15.5	God himself as their inheritance, and they're divvied up to live among each of the tribes.
1:21.4	One of the problems with the 2.5 trans-Jordan tribes to the East is that they didn't
1:25.6	drive out all the people who live there, which is not okay, according to God.
1:30.0	We'll continue to see how this act of disobedience causes them trouble through the years.
1:35.7	Then we have an encounter with Caleb.
