And on today's episode, we're going to be discussing the 1992 film, Dead, or also known as Dead Alive in North America, directed by Peter Jackson, starring Timothy Balm and Diane Penalver.

And this is the story of a couple that has to battle a horde of zombies.

And Brian, I feel like this is a movie that we've referenced in some of the podcasts,

or that you have. I don't think I'd actually have this on my radar, but I'm assuming you've

seen it before. I have. I've seen it quite a few times. And I've definitely, yeah, we've

definitely brought it up a few times. I can't uh so yeah it's kind of like a gory zombie

film so yeah i guess i would have made sense in that context yeah and i think maybe once or twice

in discussions throughout the podcast the uh the term splat stick has come up oh sure as the subgenre

of like gory comedies and the gore being a source of the comedy.

Yeah, right. And in this, I think I read like this was like a big influence on that genre.

Is that right? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah. Yeah, I don't even know. I meant to research that

genre for this episode. This might be like one of the first.

Yeah, one of the early pioneers.

Yeah, you kind of get that feeling watching this, like this is, this film's like some kind of pioneer in what it's doing.

Yeah, yep. Although I guess it wouldn't be the first because bad taste was another Peter Jackson movie before this. So it was also similar.

Oh, no kidding. So, yeah, I was really impressed that this guy has done like all these films.

And this being his fourth film. And then he's also the guy behind like Lord of the Rings and King Kong and a lot of like the Hobbit series it's
