I'm Brian, I'm on the phone with Ashvin, and today we're talking about Dr. Sleep from 2019, directed by Mike Flanagan, with a screenplay by Mike Flanagan based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Stephen King, starring Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, and Kylie Curran.

And in this sequel to The Shining, a grown-up Danny Torrance fights to save a little girl who shares his power to shine

from a cult who feeds on the souls of those who have the power to shine. Of course, this is

the sequel to The Shining, and Ashwin, I love The Shining, and I know you rated it highly on our

episode, so I was very much anticipating this movie and I can't remember

if you were or not uh no I think uh you've always been like the bigger fan of the shining uh

and in the other previews on this one didn't get me too excited but I was excited just because I

knew how much you loved the shining so were you really excited for this one? I was. And are you a,

you're a Mike Flanagan fan, right? I used to be until, until recently. I didn't even know he

directed this and as soon as I saw them on the screen, my heart just went out to him. I'm like,

Brian, it's like your favorite thing with like your least favorite director maybe. You don't like him, do you?

You know, I used to like rag on him.

We've mentioned it before, but Ashfin and I did the same thing.

Called each other up and talked about a horror movie.

We just watched for probably like three years, Ashman, before we started this podcast.

Yeah.

And we ended up seeing more Mike Flanagan movies than any other director for some reason.

We talked about Oculus, Hush, Before I Wake, and Gerald's game.

And I actually really liked Hush.

I thought Oculus was genuinely scary.
