Joanne Howard, Kim Barnes-Riko, and many others within the Michigan basketball programs have made this remark.

This is bigger than basketball.

It's bigger than basketball when all the COVID-19 tests come back negative

and there are no contact tracing issues.

And it's surely bigger than basketball when that is not the case.

We don't know the details surrounding the situation within the

women's basketball program, but after back-to-back game postponements, we know something is going on.

We know how this will work within the sports landscape and really society at this point.

Michigan women's basketball is on a pause. We don't know how long that pause will go,

and it will be

dictated by the testing, the contact tracing, and the quarantines. Of course, this is difficult

within the vacuum of basketball. These players want to play as much as they can. Basketball has

been an escape and a sign of normalcy for them. Any pause, any game postponements, any cancellations, those are difficult.

But from a person-to-person situation, you know, the holidays, they're usually a time for fun,

relaxation, family, and more so those things than a lot of times during the year.

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty nostalgic.

Certain days, certain people, certain you, but I'm pretty nostalgic. Certain days,

certain people, certain places, they remind me of things or memories or moments or feelings.

And that's been tougher to come by this year because things look so different. It's tougher

to trigger those thoughts because the normal, what we expect to see, is so different. We've all experienced

plenty of surreal things, of unfulfilled triggers to things we're familiar with. But for me,

most of all, the holiday season is the thing that brings out those moments, those memories.
