This is so against what was thought of to be appropriate.

This mission to the Lamanites was to gather Israel, President Andrew Jackson's efforts to remove the Native Americans.

But members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints saw them completely different.

We love them. We want to talk talk to them we want to be friends with

them the native americans were despised you know it's just part of the culture of that day and age

part of the scripture central team that tries to build faith in Jesus Christ.

As we illuminate restored scripture, we're trying to make them more accessible and defensible and

comprehensible. And that today will be all focused on sections 30 to 36 of the doctrine

covenants as I try to look at some of the hard questions. I want to give you honest answers.

We're looking at the time period of November to December of 1830, focusing in on the mission

to the Lamanites. And I don't know about you, but one of my first questions is, why did the

Lord use the word Lamanite to refer to the Native Americans? And why did the missionaries assume that their destination to teach the Lamanites was in the borders of Missouri?

And why didn't the Lord just call them to Ohio?

This is where all the sensitive pure heart prepared people were.

Why didn't the Lord temper the storms?

This was one of the hardest winters known

in the almanacs of this area. And to answer some of these questions, I have a lot of great
