Summary

How does putting a suppressor on your hunting rifle affect accuracy? Good? Bad? Ugly? This episode details what normally happens—which is an increase in precision and a decrease in recoil.

We give several real-life examples and explore why accuracy increases. Plus we detail several of our favorite suppressor makes and models that nearly always provide a significant increase accuracy, discussing weight, material, size, and so forth.

Welcome to the Backcountry Hunting Podcast. I'm Joseph von Benedict, your host,

0:23.7

and today we're going to talk about a little trick that has served me incredibly well over

And no, this isn't a trigger job. It's not an action betting job. It's not free

There's the fact that unless you have a relatively modern rifle, you may indeed have to enlist a gunsmith and have

1:45.1

your muzzle threaded to accept that suppressor. So in some cases, there are some caveats to this

1:51.7

easy fix that I'm prophyliding about right now, my friends, right? But with most modern rifles

1:59.0

that come with a threaded muzzle, it's a very, very simple thing to put us a pressure on.

2:05.7

And yes, almost always, it improves accuracy.

2:10.0

We'll start with why here in just a minute.

2:13.3

First, I want to apologize.

2:14.8

This is likely to be a somewhat brief episode.
