In 2010 the Green Party of England Wales won their first ever member of Parliament.

That was of course Caroline Lucas in Brighton Pavilion.

And it stayed that way for quite a long time until this year,

because in the July general election,

they quadrupled their number of MPs at Westminster

from 1 to 4.

The key number is this.

They won over 1.8 million votes.

That doesn't mean, however, that they have got a correspondingly large amount of media coverage,

anything but, which is why we thought we try and rectify the situation

at least a little bit here at Navarro Media by inviting on one of the two party co-leaders and of course the new MP for Bristol Central.

I was mocked by so many people because I came to see you in I think it was 2021.

Yeah a while back wasn't it?

And I took the possibility of you winning that seat, that new seat in Bristol Central

seriously. It looked very possible but far from probable.

You won with the majority of more than 10,000 votes in the end. How'd that happen?

Well you're right, it wasn't anything like a given and what I said

whether it was to voters on the doorstep or journalists or or activists for the

Greens is that it was within our reach but right up to the last few days it wasn't firmly in both hands.

We knew that Green Party policies are really popular across the country.
