Summary

Over 83% of the calories in the grocery store come from ultra-processed foods. In this video, we’re going to take a look into my neighbor Bill’s kitchen and help him get rid of all the junk food in his home. I’m going to show Bill and his family how to identify and remove unhealthy foods from their diet.

Everything in moderation is the worst dietary advice! Some foods are much worse than others.

Bill is exhausted, sore, stressed, and sleeping poorly. He and his family are running their bodies on the wrong fuel. The mitochondria, the body's energy factories, need the right fuel!

Processed foods are altered in some way and typically have their fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants removed. Ultra-processed foods have been altered extremely. Ultra-processed foods are processed through extreme force, pressure, and heat and then are treated with chemical solvents, deodorized, and decolorized. Finally, artificial colors, flavors, texturizers, fillers, preservatives, and flavor enhancers are added to the finished product.

Food is defined as “that which is eaten to sustain life, provide energy, and promote the growth and repair of tissues.” Ultra-processed food does not fit this definition. Ultra-processed foods contain 3 main ingredients: synthetic sugar, starch, and seed oil. Avoid these ingredients if you want to stay healthy!

Let’s take a look at Bill’s kitchen to identify and eliminate unhealthy foods. Many of the foods in Bill’s pantry are full of sugar, starches, and seed oil and have to be thrown out!

Next, we’ll go to Walmart and help Bill’s family find healthy foods and alternatives to the unhealthy foods they’re used to eating. I explained that their diet should consist mainly of grass-fed red meat and vegetables.

The St. Pierre family followed a healthy diet and avoided the dangerous ingredients in processed foods for 30 days. Bill’s daughter explained that the first week was rough, but it was pretty easy after that! She lost 9 pounds, and reports increased energy levels.

Bill lost 12 pounds and feels great! He was able to quit drinking beer in the evenings and no longer eats candy or chocolate before bed. Bill’s wife also lost 6 pounds.

The single worst advice that I think we're given is this concept of everything in moderation.

0:40.4

There is no one bad food. That was like the absolute worst advice because there's certain foods that are much worse than others.

So Bill, you're exhausted, you're sore, you don't sleep that good,

0:55.6

you're stressed out. Let me ask you a question. What would happen if you gave diesel fuel to a

1:01.2

gasoline engine? It would just run bad for a while and probably blow up. So that's exactly what's

1:06.7

happening with your body. No one ever showed you the right fuel to actually put into your body's

1:11.2

engine. I'm talking about this little thing right here. That's called the mitochondria. That's the

1:16.3

energy engine of your body. You have millions of these things with the body, but they're all kind of

1:20.8

clogged up right now. They're not working. Very similar to using diesel fuel and a gasoline engine.

1:26.5

It's just going to create a stalled engine.

1:28.6

It's not going to be very efficient. So you might feel like you have a little energy to get by,

but you're basically running on adrenaline. Do you have any stress? Unfortunately, there's a lot of stress.

I think I should start with just the definition of processed or refined foods. That just means that
