Summary

Clarence S sober since 1938 speaking about the steps at an unknown event. This runs just under 2.5 hours and there are questions and answers toward the end. The recording was in two pieces that I joined into one file, there is a bit of time missing between the two files. I put a bit of clicking in the spot where they were joined to identify the missing audio. kind uh last night we were talking about a lot of the beginnings and things attended to the beginnings

0:43.3

of A.A. And I mentioned last night that today we would get into talking about the program.

0:51.3

A.A. has grown so, and it's taken so many different directions since its inception,

1:01.0

that I am very cognizant of the fact that a lot of people are having a hard time grasping

1:10.0

this program because in so many places it has been so watered down, it's hardly recognizable.

1:18.6

That's not a criticism, that's an observation.

1:30.3

I came in a certain way and I was very fortunate in that I came in in a manner that I did.

1:41.3

And under the tutelage and direction of the people who took charge of me when I arrived

1:49.0

here because I was brought into this program with some absolutes and I was taught that there

2:00.0

are certain things that I should believe in and that

2:03.6

I should stand for. And I was further taught that if you don't stand for something, you're

2:10.6

very up to fall for most anything.

2:16.6

Last night I mentioned that while I was in the hospital, my sponsor, Doc Smith, put me on my knees and made me acknowledge that I believed in God.

2:41.0

2:49.0

And I see people come into A-A. today and they have an idea

2:53.6

or somebody gives them the idea that they can have choices on what they can do in this program.

2:59.6

Well, you can have choices because we are people of, that have a will of our own.

3:06.6

But I'll tell you one thing, we have a program of our own. But I'll tell you one thing.
