Hello and welcome to an Oh God What Now emergency cast on the Conservative leadership election. I'm Andrew Harrison.

As widely suspected, Kemi Badernock has won the ballot amongst the members by 54,000 votes to Robert Generix 41,000.

Badernock therefore, claims a lot of first,

the first black female leader of any British political party,

the first leader of Nigerian descent.

On accepting the position, she says that it's going to be a lot of fun.

Hello. I'm full of excitement. Can you tell?

I can tell, yes. So have you had an insanely busy Saturday morning trying to keep the grips on this?

Well, it was the result that people expected. I think it would have been even more exciting and more of an emotional

roller coaster had it been Robert Generic. But it's still pretty exciting when a party gets a new

leader, even if it's the one that people thought it was probably going to be. What is the mood

amongst the Conservatives that you were sort of talking to and moving along this morning?

Well, at the moment, they're all delighted,

although they're all very much sort of presenting as being delighted,

I think because this was the expected outcome.

So, Kenny Badernuck has been the front run of the bookie's favourite since January.

I wrote a piece on her in January, which included a quote from

someone in Westminster saying, you know, MPs in the Tory party are just resigned to sucking up to
