Summary

Laura continues her conversation with award winning investigative journalist, author and outdoors expert Kathryn Miles about her re-investigation into the double murder of Lollie Winans and Julie Williams, which is detailed in her book Trailed: One Woman’s Quest to Solve the Shenandoah Murders. Laura and Kathryn discuss Kara Robinson’s abduction and rape by predatory stalker, Richard Marc Evonitz. Evonitz abducted Kara in the blink of an eye, in broad daylight, and no-one knew it had even happened. Evonitz was a prolific serial perpetrator who targeted, stalked, abducted, and raped women. Laura believes Kara’s abduction seemed much more an in the moment, opportunistic attack. Kara managed to escape due to her resilience and quick thinking. Laura and Kathryn break down Evonitz’s behaviour and the timeline and discuss whether he murdered Lollie and Julie as well as other abductions and murders that might be linked including Alicia Showalter Reynolds, Anne McDaniel, Sofia Silva, Kristin and Kati Lisk and the double murder of Cathy Thomas and Becky Dowski. 0:22.0	So that was April, and within 60 days she was dead.
0:28.0	Investigators found the nude, bound, and gagged bodies of Julie Williams and her partner,
0:35.0	Lolly Wainance, just off the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park.
0:40.0	A year later, police arrested Darrell Rice for attempting to abduct another woman, a bicyclist, in the same area of the park.
0:50.0	Five years after that, a grand jury indicted Rice in the murders of Julie and Lolly.

1:17.0	And sure enough, by 2004, federal prosecutors were forced to drop the murder charges against Rice.

1:34.0	There's hairs under the duct tape. They weren't Darrell Rice's.
1:38.0	Enright has an alternative suspect. Richard Mark Ivonets, police do say Ivonets was a serial killer.
1:46.0	A man who abducted little girls from their porches after school.
1:53.0	Police say Ivonets murdered Katie and Kristen Lisk, 12 and 15, and Sophia Silva, 16, all the same year, Julie and Lolly were killed, and not far away in Spotsolvania County.
2:11.0	DNA at the scene in the park does not rule Ivonets out.
2:16.0	But he killed himself, as police closed in.
