Summary

Today, March 19th, would have been Gabby Petito’s 24th birthday. In this special episode Laura highlights the latest developments in Gabby’s case regarding the two ongoing lawsuits Gabby’s family have filed against Moab City Police and Brian’s parents, Roberta and Christopher Laundrie. Laura discusses three key updates including: Judge Danielle Brewer’s decision to add the Laundrie’s former lawyer, Steve Bertolino, as a defendant to the lawsuit filed by Gabby’s parents against the Laundries; the selfie that Gabby took on her mobile phone just minutes before the 911 call to police, and; Roberta Laundrie’s ‘Burn After Reading Letter’ to Brian and her attempt to stop this letter being entered into court evidence. If you have followed the series and case, you will not want to miss this. Trigger warning: Listener discretion is advised. As a mark of respect to Gabby, please honour Gabby by taking a stand against domestic violence and spread awareness and education about coercive control and domestic abuse. There's just this heartbreaking new picture that's emerged in the Gabby Petito case.

0:05.7

It is a selfie and it shows the injuries to Gabby's face just moments before a wrenching and

0:13.2

fateful encounter that you saw on police body cam. This was in Moab, Utah. I do want to warn you

0:19.6

that the picture is very hard to look at knowing what came just days later. The picture shows Gabby's

0:26.8

injuries a lot more clearly than we could see on this body cam. It was hard to tell when we saw

0:32.0

these pictures. Gabby took a picture of herself just two minutes before those police arrived.

0:39.3

And this is the selfie that she snapped. She was a scratch under her eye and blood smudged

0:45.1

across her face. You can see tears in her eyes. The picture was released by the law firm that is

0:51.4

handling the Petito family's $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Moab police.

0:59.4

And the suit claims that Gabby might never have lost her life at the hands of Brian Laundrie,

1:05.2

her fiance that had been traveling with her, had the Moab police paid closer attention to these

1:11.5

injuries and how she must have received these injuries. The lawyers say that Gabby was likely

1:17.7

strangled and or suffocated by Brian Laundrie at about the time a caller dialed 911 reporting to see

1:25.6

her being slapped by Brian Laundrie in a parking lot. You can also tell by that picture that

1:34.3

Gabby Petito's tank top in the selfie matches the tank top that she's wearing in the back of the

1:40.0

police cruiser there on the body cam. So the timing really does line up. The selfie itself was

1:45.6

taken at 437 in the afternoon. That was August 12th, 2021. So 437, the picture snapped. The call to

1:54.4

911 comes in two minutes later. The body cam video starts at 453. Did you get hit in the face?

2:04.2

Kind of looks like something like hitting the face. I mean, it's okay for saying you hit him and then

2:08.6

I understand if you hit you, but we want another truth that we actually hit you.

2:12.0

I can see everybody from her.

2:16.8

In those videos, Petito also says that Laundrie did not punch her, but that he grabbed her face and
