0:57.0 | This was only three years or so there since the USSR had fallen apart. |
1:03.1 | And NATO expansion was all the rage. |
1:07.9 | Now, I was no grand international relations expert, but like any subject, you get into it, you learn. |
1:15.1 | And I was up against somebody who was taking on the NATO expansion side. |
1:20.3 | And you could see that this guy was well respected in the school, probably had perfect grades and all that kind of stuff. |
1:29.2 | And he had to, again, defend expanding NATO. |
1:33.8 | So we had a debate. |
1:35.4 | I don't recall all the details. |
1:37.6 | But I do recall that I destroyed this guy in the debate. |
1:41.3 | Because it was quite simple. |
1:43.8 | If you took NATO a Western military alliance |
1:48.2 | and put it up against the border of Russia after the Warsaw Pact had gone away, |
1:55.9 | then you were going to have problems. As an ex-person noted, and I will read this in a few minutes, |
2:03.1 | it was the same when the Russians put missiles in Cuba. The Russians don't want missiles in Ukraine. |
