This can sound like a life hack, like everybody wants to use their phone less, and that's good.

But I think the real spiritual value here is that when you realize that God made you for presence,

and that everything important in life, from loving God to loving neighbor, which are the two greatest

commandments, require presence.

And that requires that we be people who can turn it off to be attentive to prayer, for example.

I genuinely don't know how we would become a people of prayer or teach our kids to pray

if we never know how to turn our prayer off.
