Summary

The first story I tell in my book The Life Council: 10 Friends Every Woman Needs is called A Friendship Reckoning. In this chapter, I share about a painful conflict with a friend that almost led to the end of our deep friendship, and how we reconciled with one big, meaningful, conversation in my backyard. I chose to keep that friend anonymous in the book, but she revealed herself in an episode my Secret Tapes podcast series and I'm airing it publicly here for the first time. There is so much about this conversation that gets to the heart of what I was trying to convey in The Life Council. We talk about the origin of our friendship, how our friendship styles have changed over the last few years, and, of course, we finally delve into what went wrong that almost led her to ending our friendship, and how we decided to save it together. 1:22.0	friendship reckoning. I start the Life Council by sharing how a
1:26.2	conflict with a friend and a mistake that I made almost led to a friendship breakup. We reconciled in my backyard in the middle of the pandemic.

1:43.8	I kept her anonymous for a few reasons that you'll hear in the episode,
1:47.4	but she was willing to reveal herself in this conversation
