Summary

Maybe it was a weird conversation or an offhand remark or a comment on a social media post, but whatever happened, you're spinning out. This circumstance has tapped into all of your securities and now you're filled with self-doubt or anger or unworthiness. How do you recenter yourself? I'm going to share 5 ways I've learned to quiet my mind amid chaos and guess what - I am NOT recommending journaling or meditation. I love both of those things (and they can be helpful), but I want to give you a few new tools to consider when you're having one of those days. Welcome to the Ten Things to Tell You podcast. I'm Laura Tremaine. I always have at least ten things to tell you and you have ten things to tell.

0:22.0

This is a show where we believe that sharing yourself will make you

0:27.0

less lonely.

0:31.0

So how to center yourself when you are spun out?

0:38.0

Please know that when I do episodes like this,

0:42.0

I am doing them as much for me as for you. Episodes in the past like

0:50.3

how to feel pretty when you don't, how to handle

0:55.0

handle overwhelm those type of episodes always come from me going through something and then wanting to talk about it with you.

1:08.0

And if it isn't something that I feel like I handled on my own or you know learned something from already then I'll consult with

1:17.2

experts and have them on the show to talk us through these things like how to handle

1:22.4

our grief reframing anxiety or how to meditate all of those

1:27.8

episodes and I'll link all of these episodes as resources come from something that is going on in my life or the world that I feel like

1:39.3

might be something you're going through to or might hold some tools or little nuggets of wisdom that you might also need.

1:50.0

And when I am, you know, outlining these episodes and working on how I'm going to present the information to you,

1:57.4

it is always a reminder to myself of how to handle it the next time it happens to me because we all go through moments of

2:08.7

overwhelm, we all go through times when we're spinning out and need to re-enter. And one thing that I always

2:16.8

want to point out to you here, this is going to come up later in the episode, but I'm going to

2:21.0

repeat myself, is that it is best to harness these tools and to

2:26.8

think about these things when you are not in the moment of crisis. Big sea crisis or little sea crisis,

2:36.0

to have thought through how you were gonna handle something,

2:40.1

who you are gonna reach out to to before you're in desperate need in a place where it's really hard to make those decisions. It's really hard to think clearly.

2:50.5

You will have already at least gotten the wheels turning of how to handle the things that life throws at us.
