Today's podcast, I am going to be walking you through tips things basically what we're doing here on our homestead in order to get ready for fall and winter

So giving you a bit of kind of like behind the scenes, what's happening in real time here, but also a checklist so that you can make sure that you are getting these same things done so that your homestead is prepared for fall and winter.

So I'm kind of break this down by category what we're doing kind of in each one of those categories as we go through it. So up first I'm

going to start in the garden and crops. Now depending on where you live you may

still have quite a bit going on in the garden or if you're really far north

some of those colder zones you might not have a whole

lot happening in the garden yet. Now interestingly we are pretty far north I'm kind of

sandwiched between Seattle and Canada so so I'm in pretty far northern western Washington state.

Normally by this time of year, I am recording this just a few days before this episode will go live. So this is almost in real time.

And it's crazy.

We are at the end of almost of October

and we have not had our first killing frost. This is pretty abnormal for us.

Normally we've had a killing frost by now. We were 34 degrees Fahrenheit this

morning so we were super super close I know any any night I'm gonna wake up in the

morning and boom it will have hit but for this moment I actually for this part of

October have more coming on in the garden than I usually do, which has been really nice.

We had a little bit of a cool start kind of in June to the garden.

It seemed it took things.

We were about three weeks behind what would be our normal harvest schedule,

so it's been a relief that that killing frost has lasted, or I should say, has not came that our

warm spell and kind of a warm autumn has lasted this long.
