0:00.0 | Hello, my name is Mike Fenton-Stevens, and this is my time capsule, where my guest tell me the five things from their life that they wish they had in a time capsule. |
0:19.9 | Four things they love and one they'd like to bury and forget. |
0:23.6 | Well, that's usually what they do, but this episode is an extended, |
0:27.1 | you might even say unedited version, |
0:29.4 | of an episode we put out right at the start of my time capsule, |
0:32.6 | with the producer, writer and presenter, John Lloyd. |
0:36.2 | Famously, one of our guests who just completely ignored the |
0:38.7 | format. But then again, after the career he's had, he has the right to do almost anything he wants. |
0:44.4 | John is one of the youngest recipients of a BAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award, and was the producer |
0:49.5 | of not the 9 o'clock news, blackadder and spitting image. But you knew that, I'm sure. He co-wrote |
0:55.2 | some of the Hitchhinker's Guide to the Galaxy with Douglas Adams, made hundreds of television commercials, |
0:59.9 | and then started the quiz show QI, which has spawned one of the most popular podcasts in the world, |
1:05.9 | no such thing as a fish. He presents the Museum of Curiosity on BBC Radio 4 and has performed in several one-man |
1:13.3 | shows at Edinburgh. So here is another chance to hear this lovely and unique man, with all the |
1:19.1 | bits that we rather fastidiously took out, put back in. This is John Lloyd unedited. |
1:28.0 | So it's very straightforward. |
1:30.3 | Really, it gets people to talk about things that are not in the norm. |
1:34.7 | You know, so I could talk to you about your career and all those things, |
1:37.6 | but actually they're well on record, you know. |
1:40.0 | So in fact, it's more looking for tiny little things |
1:43.4 | that remind you of a sort of a period of your life or something in your life that you liked and everything. |
1:50.2 | And just one that you sort of go, well, that was, you know, I wish you would get rid of that. |
