Hello and welcome to my time capsule.

The podcast where I, I'm Mike Fenton-Stevens, if you didn't know, talk to various guests about the four things from their life they cherish, and the one thing they like to bury and forget,

that they'd want to preserve in a time capsule.

My guest, again in this episode, is the actor John Chalice,

best known for playing Boise and Only Fools and Horses,

and its spin-off, the Green Green Grass,

as well as Monty Staines in the ITV comedy drama Benidorm.

This is an episode that was first released in October 2020, but since then, we've wondered

if we may have been too keen with our editing. Turns out we were, so we've tried to re-edit

the episode. In fact, we've tried where we could to not edit the episode at all, to give a

sense of the complete conversation. I think it's worked well. Can't imagine why we didn't do it in the

first place. Of course, very sadly, dear John is no longer with us, but I hope this conversation

gives you a new insight into what a delightful man he was. Quite shy, never boastful, always elegantly dressed,

and full of consideration for others, particularly fans of his work. John was, without doubt,

a great actor and an even greater man. At the start of this extended version, you discover us

talking about our time together in the television comedy drama

Benidorm. Specifically, a wonderful but difficult few days when we filmed his wedding to Sherry

Hewson on an island in the bay near Benidorm, which was covered in seagulls. Happy days.
