I spoke again yesterday with Oana Diane, one of Israel's most celebrated broadcast journalists

whose investigative reports over decades have stirred strong reaction within Israel and

the Middle East.

Oana has been on the Axwiles before when she was a fellow at the Institute of Politics,

but the Oana Diane I spoke with yesterday was a different voice than the one I had heard

before.

Not the voice of a dispassionate journalist, but a searing voice, laced with grief, outrage

and determination reflective of her country's mood after the horrific Hamas massacre of

October 7th.

Here's that conversation.

Oana, it's so good to see you.

I know this is such a difficult time for Israel and for a journalist in Israel and for

a mother in Israel, all those things.

Tell me when were you alerted to the Hamas attack?

When did you first learn of it and when did you realize how serious it was?

You know, we are trying to reconstruct this terrible Saturday morning, each and every one

of us.

And I'm doing it as a journalist and we are doing it as a nation and as individuals.

And you know, in terms of schedule, it's relatively easy, 630 sirens go off all over Israel

from the north to the south, but it sounds like a rocket attack.
