Well the big thing I thought of when it comes to talking about the shadow side of being the one true church is pride.

The topic of pride shouldn't be any news flash to members of the church like that's kind of the

theme in the book of Mormon right right we've said before to read scripture well

we have to put ourselves in the role of the least likable character

And I think when we read the book of Mormon and we talk about all those stories about pride like for instance here here's one in Helaman chapter 3 verse and in the

51st year of the reign of the judges there was peace also. Save it were the pride which

began to enter into the church, not into the Church of God, but into the hearts of the people who professed to belong to the Church of God.

Like are we looking at that scripture and seeing ourselves as the least

likable character? We are the ones who have pride.

Well, I feel like I want to put a disclaimer out the right away. You and I are not debating whether we belong to the one true church. That's not what we're going to do today. We're going to talk about some circumstances surrounding that belief

of being the one true church and we're gonna to hear the big sigh Susan like I do I feel the big size I want to be respectful as we talk about this but we're going to talk about some really hard things today and the idea that maybe us believing or

believing that we are the one true church has a shadow side. Okay. There's maybe a downside to that belief and I know that's a

word you know that's a phrase we throw around a lot a lot lately is shadow work know, look at your shadow and so it was the psychologist

Carl Jung who popularized the idea of a shadow self meaning that we all have like a

dark or emotional side of our personality
