All right, so you were telling us right before we started, you do have some familiarity with the case we're going to talk about tonight.

Yeah, I do. So I am not only a Palestinian-American, grew up in a Muslim family and Muslim kind of community,

but also, you know, born and raised in the Dallas area.

So this case, you know know was very much you know close to home growing up.

You guys are talking about this at the dinner table.

Absolutely. Yeah my family was talking about this case. People in my family knew the people who were prosecuted in this case.

Oh wow. That really bums me out because I mean I did a lot of reading on this. I read

M. I read Mikko Pellad's book on it and I listened to a number

I listened to the electronic and defata podcast that had the daughters of some of the men who

were prosecuted in this case it's absolutely harrowing story yeah it it's, it's, it's super fucked up and I think, you know, not to like jump, jump ahead of the ball or whatever, but the effect that this had in the Muslim community in the Palestinian community

the effect that it had on really scaring people very deeply about their charitable work, right?

Just knowing that everything that they were doing,

even donating to charity was going to be really closely

scrutinized but but you know that you could you think you could do time that you could

be called a terrorist support. It's just wild.
