0:00.0 | Hello and welcome back to ACRAC. I'm Jim Wolfhawk and we've got a great show for you today. |
0:18.0 | I have with me two international experts on anesthesia simulation are very own doctors, |
0:23.6 | Miller and Shiavi who run our simulation program here at Hopkins and do an incredible job. They |
0:28.8 | travel around the country talking about this stuff. They put a huge amount of work into optimizing |
0:33.1 | our program here and helping others do the same and they have done a lot of work in terms of |
0:37.6 | research on this as well. We're going to try to pull back the curtain a little bit and talk |
0:41.1 | about what happens behind the scenes and how you might go about putting together a simulation |
0:45.0 | program you're own and why you might want to do that. So I'm really excited to talk to them. |
0:48.2 | Adam and Christina, welcome to the show. Thanks for having us. Thank you. So let's start out with, |

0:58.8 | exposure to Sim or who may have thought about it, but think there's a high barrier to entry. |
1:02.5 | Why is it important to be able to use simulation in anesthesia? Well, I it's a great question. |
1:09.6 | One of the things that I do think is important is we constantly are talking to people about |

1:21.5 | always very interested in, well, how do you do what you do or why is it important? That's |
1:25.9 | sort of thing. And then you have this conversation with this person and all of a sudden their |
1:30.6 | eyes light up and they're like, oh, my God, I had no idea that all of this stuff goes into it. |
1:35.5 | And then it's like converting people one at a time to this way of thinking that experiential |
1:40.6 | learning can actually help you, right? And then when people understand a little bit more, |
1:45.3 | I think it makes them a little bit better at being a simulation or an experiential learner. |
1:50.8 | And so that's one of the main reasons why we thought doing the podcast on the first place |
1:55.2 | would be helpful because every single time we individually talk to people, they're just thrilled |
