May 2003, a mother is convicted of three counts of murder, one count of manslaughter and one count of maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm.

She's sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Subsequent appeals were dismissed.

Now, there is a new inquiry into her conviction.

This is True Crime Island, another True Crime Podcast Hi islanders tonight's case is a disturbing one. They won't be that much gore or descriptions of violence. It does deal with

the death of children and I know some of you are very sensitive to that, so please be warned. Now the reason I'm bringing you

this case this week is that just recently New South Wales Attorney General Mark Speakeman announced there would be an inquiry

into the convictions to, as he says, ensure public confidence in the administration of justice.

Now, I know there are a lot of supporters for Kathleen 4 big out there,

so what I aim to do in this episode is to bring everyone up to speed on the case.

I will give a background on Kathleen and for the most part I will be reading almost directly from court records. By the end of the show

you should be able to form some opinion on the case in preparation for the upcoming

inquiry which will introduce different opinions on the evidence

that was presented in her trial. So please don't shoot the messenger.

As I said in the intro, Kathleen Follbig was convicted on three counts of murder, one count of manslaughter, and one count of malicious and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The victims were her four children, Caleb, 20 days old, Patrick just over six months old, Sarah 10 months old, and Laura just over

18 months old.
