It is good to see friends that I haven't seen for quite some time.

I'm enjoying today a lot.

My purpose here right now, however, is to share my experience with you

in the hope that I can be helpful. I am primarily concerned with someone fairly new in the program

who might be in the room because those

of us who have been in AA for a while know beyond a shadow of a doubt that AA will work as long as we

continue to try to live by our principles.

But I can remember how full of doubts I was,

how full of fears I was.

When I first sought help from AA,

I thought, yes, it might work for all these other people,

but I wonder if it'll work for me. I listened to those who had stayed sober.

They gave me little bits of advice, and by following the advice of sober people,

I am still with you today and have no desire to leave. But so far as these acoustics in here are really bad, you know that, don't you?

I'm talking back to myself here. Is it ringing out there?

I guess there's nothing can be done about it, so we'll have to practice a little tolerance or something here.

So far as my drinking is concerned, I was living in Akron, Ohio, when A.A. was born there.
