Glad to be here tonight.

I'm always glad to be in a room with my fellows, with people just like me.

Because for a long time, I felt like nobody was like me.

For a long time, I lived, I thought I was the only person in the world who felt the way I felt

that did the things that I did, that told the lies and said the things that I said.

I thought I was the only person who was that terrible,

that dishonest, that deceitful, that unkind, that hateful. I hate, I was so full of anger,

that angry. And now I know you're all that screwed up too. So, anyway, my name is Brittany, and I'm an alcoholic, and I do have a variety date.

Because of the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, I have not found it necessary to pick up a drink since December 27th of 2007.

And I believe that every, all those things I just mentioned, all that lying, deceit, anger,

it started to change from that moment. It didn't all change. It didn't all get better all at once

or even completely still. It's why it's a, you know, it's a program of progress, but it all started to get better

from the day I decided to do something about my condition, my alcoholism.

At the time, I'm not one of those people that say, you know, I had no idea I was an alcoholic.
