Anomalous autonomy is something the foundation has always struggled with to some degree.

It's a no-brainer to contain some big, bad monster that's only interested in mayhem and destruction,

but things can be a little murkier when it comes to some anomalous humans.

Many of them just want to live out their lives in peace, but the foundation's rigid dedication

to preserving normalcy often gets in the way of that.

SCP 4036 is not about a single person, but rather an entire nation of the anomalous,

and while things are fairly clear-cut at first, the foundation will eventually have to decide

how far they'll go with containment.

SCP 4036 is a small, unitary, theocratic republic located in an archipelago in the southeastern region of

Polynesia. The archipelago is 300 kilometers in radius and 100,000 square kilometers in area,

and the citizens of the Republic referred to their nation as the Adetite Republic of Polynesia.

It was previously under the autocratic rule of a man named Norman Taylor, from 1857 to 1862, before his assassination by foundation-backed

groups in the region. Prior to his assassination, the Republic was highly militaristic,

combining industrial age technology with biological weaponry to create a mobilized military.

The government had controlled around 30% of Polynesia, with the majority of its holdings

in sparsely populated locations, but current authorities of the nation have disavowed Norman

Taylor and previous imperialist ambitions.

The population of the Republic is primarily anomalous, with current estimates ranging from 50% to 80%,

and government statistics stating that around 64% is anomalous.

The population is primarily capable of flesh manipulation, as the state religion of the

republic is sarcicism, although there are small Christian and Islamic groups within the country.
