You're going to You're in. Hello beloved listeners, this is Adrian. What we are about to share with you all is an IG conversation,

Instagram conversation that I had with two incredible organizer, mother artists who are based in and around Chicago,

who a few years ago lost a shared loved one and their story

touched me and touched my life. I ended up being part of the circle of support that they called upon as they moved through the aftermath of this loss and the processes that they went through were so incredible, so beautiful that they wanted to share them out so that they might be

abused to other people in grief and other people trying to figure out how to make family in the aftermath of loss.

So in this moment there are so many of us, so many people in the world who are having to figure out how to keep going after impossible loss.

And I thought that this conversation was really beautiful and it feels like it's part of the how to survive the end of the world

I am Christina, I'm a writer and the mother of Orri. And Janay and I first met in 2014 in the wake of the Ferguson uprising.

So our relationship starts in comradeship in responding to that uprising and then has taken so many dynamic shapes since then and

is landing in a really, really beautiful space right now unfolding and deepening as you describe.

I'm Johnny Strong. I am a filmmaker and organizer in Mommy Tari and yeah I remember when Christina and I first met we were both kind of in other facets of

other facets of our life and then the movement kind of pushed us into really supporting each other and leading on each other.

And the way that the universe does has cycled us through a lot and now we're supporting each other in a new way so

grateful. Beautiful. Welcome to both of you for coming into this space. So I mentioned before that y'all share a tragedy, that y'all share something that is really heartbreaking and so I want to tell people this is the trigger warning that we're going to be showing about the death of a loved one.

I wonder if you all want to tell the story of what happened here like yeah.

Yeah I can. We lost in the physical form, the father of our children, Ory and Yari, in 2021, Malik Alim, who is and was really a towering activist organizer in his own right at the time of his transition,

was working at the Chicago Community Bond Fund as the organizer for the campaign to end money bail.
