Summary

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people go missing in the United States. Although African Americans represent thirteen percent of the population, people of color make up roughly forty percent of missing persons cases. Despite making up a significant proportion of these cases, people of color often don't receive the proper amount of exposure. Co-founders of the Black and Missing Foundation Derrica Wilson and Natalie Wilson share how their nonprofit works to bring attention to cases of missing people of color. They explain the resources they use to help amplify these cases and share how listeners can help and get involved in their own community. At the 2023 CrimeCon in Orlando, Derrica and Natalie received the Clue Award for 'Crime Fighter of the Year' for the impact the Black and Missing Foundation has made on countless missing persons cases across the country.
