It was a particularly cold Wednesday on January 26, 2011, and the weather conditions were only

growing worse.

Due to an impending nor'easter storm, Juniata Park Academy ended classes early and sent students

home to avoid the harsh blizzard.

27-year-old Ellen Greenberg was a first-grade teacher at the school,

and with a heart as big as her smile,

was adored by her students.

Ellen finished the school day by calling all her students' parents

in order to make sure that each one made it home safely.

When everyone was accounted for, Ellen drove home to the Philadelphia apartment she shared with

her fiancé, Samuel Goldberg.

That would be the final day that Ellen's students were able to spend with their beloved teacher.

That night, behind her locked apartment door, Ellen was found dead in her kitchen,

with 20 stab wounds to her upper torso, including the back of her head.

Her violent death was ruled a suicide.

Twelve years later, her family is fighting to change that.
