A team of scientists has successfully built a simulation of the complete wiring diagram of the adult fruit fly brain.

1:14.3

A diagram like this is called a connectome and this one represents 139,25 neurons and 50 million connections.

1:23.5

Wow, that is pretty mind-blowing. No fun in time.

1:34.3

But I'm wondering, what can we actually do with a complete model of the brain of a fruit fly?

1:45.5

Okay, well, turns out there are potentially a lot of answers to your question, most of which are still a bit undefined. But let me dig into the study a little bit, which will shed some light on the big picture.
