Summary

This Sunday, Pastor Suzy Silk continued our Fall sermon series, Formed, with a teaching on the doctrine of justification and being made righteous before God. The reality is that there is nothing we can do to justify ourselves or make ourselves holy. We are unable to perfectly follow the law, and therefore unable to earn our own righteousness. Only by faith in Jesus Christ can we receive the righteousness He won for us, and freely come before the Father.

0:09.8	Wanted to let you know this autumn. We are going to be talking through the idea of spiritual formation.
0:16.1	This series is called Formed. And it is a journey through the key stages of development where someone
0:22.1	goes from being dead in sin into being formed into the image of Jesus. And it's really getting back
0:28.3	to the core concepts that are often overlooked in all the conversations about spiritual formation.
0:33.9	What does election, regeneration, justification, vivification, mortification, sanctification, these big terms,
0:41.6	what do they actually mean for the spirit's work within us, helping us move out of the brokenness
0:48.3	of our sin-stained flesh and into the fullness of life that God has for us?
0:52.8	How do we make sense of our stories in light of the resurrection of Jesus and the kingdom of God?
0:58.9	The word formed, we're taking from Galatians 419,
1:02.5	where Paul talks about being as in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in us.
1:08.1	Romans 8 tells us that we've been predestined to be conformed to the image of the sun.
1:12.6	Those are high theological terms and we're going to make them both practical and meaningful
