He lived and served God under a wicked king, and yet, in spite of the wickedness around him,

he was a man who not only walked with

God he had the power of God on his life in this study a man like us in times like

All around us, there are broken hearts, broken lives, people who are grieving, who are wounded, and they need grace.

Aren't you glad that our God loves the broken and he is near the broken?

This is why in the New Testament he says that pure religion is to visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction.

May I tell you why that is? Because that's what he does. He visits the fatherless and the widows in their affliction. May I tell you why that is?

He's near those who are broken.

And in 1st Kings chapter 17,

we get a picture of a woman who is broken.

By the way, in our next study, we will see that brokenness is not just an event.

It really is at every season of life, there are different things that break us. We're all

broken people, and you get over one thing, something else comes. But if you can learn that God is near

the broken and that God

loves the broken and God will help the broken, then that will help you whenever you are broken,

or wherever you meet broken people. The person I'm referring to today is this poor widow woman

in Zarifath, where Elijah has been instructed to go by the Lord himself.
