James 517 tells us that Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are.

He lived and served God under a wicked king, and yet, in spite of the wickedness around him,

he was a man who not only walked with

God he had the power of God on his life in this study a man like us in times like

ours Scott Paulie will share encouragement from the life of Elijah that will help

The scene changes, but God is always the same. We return to 1st King 17, but there is a shift in the

story as God moves his servant from one place to another.

Remember, he has been living by the Brook Cherath, and now he's being sent to a widow

woman's house in Zarifath. I don't have time rather to get into all of this, but you should

study Jeremiah chapter 48.

Because God gives an amazing object lesson there of how they would take the fruit of the vine,

they would take grapes, and they would allow them to settle in a vessel,

and then they would pour it from one vessel to another, and then from that vessel to another. And every time it was poured from vessel to vessel, they would sift more of the debris out of it

until eventually it was just the fruit of the vine that could be had and enjoyed.

And God used that as an object lesson.

He said there are lots of nations that just sit and they're never moved.

They're never unsettled.

And they get bitter and worse because of it.

He said, but my people have been emptied from vessel to vessel.

Jeremiah chapter 48, verse number 11.
