As you know, we build the Scotland Outdoors podcast from the live we do for BBC Radio Scotland, which is called Out of Doors.

And this week you go in search of some rather elusive badgers.

It's going to be a hot day today. And I know we're at the height of summer, or heightish,

of summer, but we've got the fire on, and it's smoking.

And I know that's the last thing we need at the moment.

That's something of a sensitive subject in Scotland at the moment, lighting any fires at all.

I'm Mark Stephen. I'm standing here in Beachgrove and Aberdeen, standing across the other side of the fire pit.

Yeah, good morning, and it is a nice nice one and we've had a really pleasant run of

weather but as you say I'm also very aware that everything's bone dry isn't it and for those

who are either concerned about or actively fighting wildfires they're doing a rain dance

probably as we speak. Yes and I drove across from Stalingshire across the campsies the other day and I looked up and I thought that's a lot of cloud and I drove across from Stirlingshire, across the campsies the other day, and I looked up and I thought, oh, that's a lot of cloud. I thought, no, it's not cloud.

The western end of the campsies were ablaze, the Strathblane end and what have you. How do you go about putting that out? I have no idea.

I know, well, they're obviously having ongoing issues up at Buley, aren't they trying to get that fire out?

And it keeps coming back to life just when they think they've got the better of it.
